When one door close…

Another One Opens…

Yesterday we got news that Miche Rockstars got the news about their doors closing…

… and about 5 months ago, Lia Sophia Rockstars got the news about their doors closing, only to find out that the company was moving to an online retail store instead.

Business is business and to tell you the truth, you can’t be mad at anyone for making business decisions.

Even if, they didn’t handle it the way you thought they should have.

Now I know that some may not agree with that, but it’s the cold hard truth.

Here’s the thing…

Your business is YOUR business even though you’re in Direct Sales and it’s under the umbrella of your corporate company…

So that also means that you should ALWAYS make sure that you have a plan…

Now, I am big on “The Secret” & Law of Attraction so this sounds like it is contradicting, buuuuuut just hear me out.

Because the Direct Sales/Party Plan/Multi Level Marketing world is ever-changing and companies are coming and going every day…

You should already KNOW what company you’re going to, if something should happen and your current company goes out of business.

That way “IF” it does happen (which seems likely with the trend we are seeing, with the exception of some companies) you aren’t left in the dark, not knowing what you’re going to do.

….And when you’re making your back-up plan, consider the staples in the industry who have been around a REALLY long time who are also names that a lot of people know….

  • Mary Kay
  • Pure Romance
  • Thirty One (not around for a long time, but people know them)
  • Melaleuca
  • Amway

Most anyone reading these names would know these companies whether or not they are familiar with the industry.

So when choosing your back-up company or even a company to switch to, be sure to check their track record and do the familiarity test…

Ask someone NOT familiar with the Direct Sales industry if they have ever heard of the company name that you are considering joining.

Now, this isn’t the end all, be all test to a companies “Stay” in the market, it’s just a good guideline…

Because I LOOOOOOVE

  • Orgiami Owl
  • Scentsy
  • Norwex
  • Essential Bodywear
  • Tastefully Simple
  • Younique
  • etc

But they are the ones that are just starting to get a name for themselves.

So what’s my point in this?

Designers of Celebrating Home got an email from the owners of the company on May 1st-ish letting them know they would be closing Celebrating Home as a party plan on July 31st 2015.

Now, some would say, this is why Direct Sellers should be with more than one company in case something like this happens…

And I DO NOT agree with that…

I believe that you should give your attention to one company and one company only, at a time…

But we will talk more about that and why in my “Are 2 Direct Sales Business Better Than 1” blog that’s coming out on Monday.

For now though, please get my point in the fact that you should have a back-up plan and be AWARE of what’s going on in the industry and within your company.

Sometimes there are signs that your company could be changing how it’s structured or even going out of business….

  • Not coming out with new products
  • No company incentive trip this year
  • Not promoting a new catalog for the next season
  • Communication from Corporate has been a lot less frequent.
  • The consistent things your company used to do, they’ve stopped doing and have put nothing new in place of it.
  • They started bringing on a different line of product that doesn’t go along with what the brand has been for years.

These all “COULD” be indications that your company is in jeopardy…

BUUUUUUUT

There’s an even BIGGER POINT to this post…

The news about a company closing (ANY COMPANY) is very difficult news for it’s consultants.

With that being said….

When someone asks about a specific company that they are considering joining and want your feedback of your personal experiences with them as a consultant…

Please keep a few things in mind:

  1. We ALL are passionate about our companies! That is why we joined them! If you are with a competitor don’t take their questions about a competitor company as anything against your company or take that as an opportunity to share why you feel your company maybe a better choice. Keep the post about the question at hand. We all have opinions on things and things we could add, but that is not what they are asking for so lets do our best to just give them the facts they are seeking.
  2. Please don’t attempt to recruit them. If they come to you with questions about your company and choose to join your team based on the relationship you build with them through your communications, great! BUT please do not seek out new recruits just because people are asking for your advice.
  3. Like our momma’s always told us.. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. These ladies are grieving and need positive energy. Please keep this in mind when responding to their questions for guidance during their time of grieving for their businesses and attempting to find a new best fit for them.

This is NOT the time to pounce on an opportunity to get ahead in your own business…

It’s the time that you REACH OUT…

It’s the time that you SHOW LOVE…

It’s the time that you CONNECT…

It’s the time that you SHOW THEM THEY AREN’T ALONE…

And whatever is supposed to come to YOU from that, WILL!

Please show your love for anyone going through this right now, especially the Celebrating Home Designers below and let them know you are here for them!

MUCH LOVE!

XOXO2
